My holiday

arrived at gatwick, bought train tickets, got bags, got on train to brighton, arrived brighton (via Hayward heath where we discovered that it was raining inside the train), went to churchill square shopping centre, got some money from the ATM, went to costa, had caffe latte and ate sweet raisin bread pastry with raisins and custard, beautiful, went to montezuma's, bought coffee chocolate (and some other stuff, but this is my favourite at the moment), went to waterstone's, got books (see separate list), went to pret a manger had veggie sandwich, j had a club sandwich, of course. Then we got on the bus, got off 2 stops too soon (note to self, press bell at sight of letters OPT inte OTT.) Some flooding on road so rather exciting crossing the road, arrived at Eva's, she was at work, but JD let us in and J and I went to bed and fell asleep. Quick run to M&S (bought underwear as per usual) and Tesco (bought lots and lots of tea, and then some tea). After this we went back to the house showered and got on the bus to go into town. Had dinner at Barry at the Tureen. Best trifle I ever had. I had mushroom and crabs for starters and tuna for main. After this we went to The PV and had some beer and then to another pub closer to Waterstone's where we had more beer. After this we went to queue up for our Harry Potter books. Stood in queue for an hour, chatted to the other people in the queue, everyone very excited but dying to get the book and go home and start reading. We bought four copies, took a cab home, started reading on the cab ride, got home, made tea continued reading, went to bed around 02.00, got up in the morning continued reading, actually took a break for several hours, going shopping and having lunch at Moshi Moshi, but went back continued reading, had dinner and was social for a bit, but then continued reading as I had just began the chapter with the last battle when dinner was served (dinner was nice steaks from the butcher's, lovely homegrown potatoes, salad with the greenest olives I ever saw, lots of cheese, one Stilton, one Wensleydale blueberry, one goat's cheese and some brilliant cheddar. Welsh miner's cheddar. With morello cherry jam. Then we had the dessert which was baked rhubarbs from the garden, madeira cake from Tesco's, custard from M&S and cream so thick we didn't need to whip it, from M&S. I love M&S. And we had red wine from France. Really nice red wine that also went v. well with the book and the cigarettes I smoked all way through the visit. I quit again though.) Then I finished the book. Then J wanted to continue reading so I slept in the box room (which has a bed in it) read some of Peter Kay's biography and fell asleep laughing. Got up at 09.00. J had finished the book by 0.4.30, so he had a sleep-in. I got up had a small breakfast started rereading HP and then JD cooked us a proper breakfast with bacon, sausages, potato bread and eggs. Now Eva was deep into the book and we just sat around most of the day reading. Then we took another trip to Tesco and M&S, got pressies for the kids, who only want cheap plastic stuff anyway and have been known to cry when I bring back games and other pedagogical toys, got some more food from M&S (more green olives) had lunch, got in the car, were driven to Gatwick and went home. Am tired now.
