JulGODIS

Daph, I'm making Christmas fudge tomorrow with lots of chocolate, mini marshmallows and peanuts. I know you barely finished celebrating Thanksgiving, but since we don't have that I have to start doing Christmassy things now. For First Advent my parents are coming up and mum and the kids are making gingerbread cookies.

Go Go Hamster

Bummer.

Momofuku Ssäm Bar

On Monday we had lunch at Momofuku Ssäm Bar. India Knight tweeted about how she'd had dinner there two nights in a row a few weeks ago. It was the best. The waiter made great suggestions and we split an order of pork buns and seasonal vegetables for starter and then I orderered brisket as per instructions from waiter and Johan had the spicy rice cakes and they were hot! And I ate more than I should have because it was all so good. Even the dessert which was odd, but the texture of it was sublime, we both had thai iced tea parfait. Very few pictures, we just ate. If you ever go there do have the pork buns.

Alice's Tea Cup

In the afternoon we went to Alice's Tea Cup Chapter II as it was conveniently on the way to Grand Central Station. We weren't exactly planning on eating anything, we just wanted a cup of tea. So we each had a pot of tea: Johan had Russian caravan, Eva had Lavender earl Grey (best by far, one of the best teas I've had and I've ..., yes, exactly). They didn't have the Chai I wanted or the Cinnamon tea, so I had Birthday tea which seemed fitting. As we were still full from lunch Johan had a platter of cookies, Eva an Oreo cupcake (don't know why the frosting was green) and I ordered two scones (cos that was how you ordered them, not because I thought I should have two), one pumpkin (toffee sauce) and one plain buttermilk. Obviously I got clotted (almost) cream and jam. We ate as much as we could, my pumpkin scone was v. good, but we couldn't finish even half of it. I think we did finish the tea.
I don't think we had dinner. Update: We did have dinner. We went back to the hotel and ordered room service: grilled cheese sandwich for me and a club sandwich for Johan. I ate all my chips/fries. With mayo.
I found out about Alice's Tea Cup from the rockstar diaries and I've been dying to go ever since I first read about it. Now I will go back every time I visit NY; it was that good and they had soy milk and the menu went on forever.

Mama Mexico

I read about Mama Mexico at Ett annat New York and thought it sounded like a fab place and it was. We went for the one in. We had lovely drinks, Johan had a mojito with a huge pice of raw sugar in it, Eva had a blueberry margarita and I had a coconut margarita. We had to have guacamole (which is prepared by the table) and it was great. For main I had crab between tosatadas, refried beans and rice, Johan had chicken fajitas (his was the best dish) and Eva had trio de chimichangas. We would like to go back some day to have Mexican brunch, I think maybe Jon & Eva will go there and test eat it for us! After lunch we could barely walk due to all the food and we went to the Whitney Museum of American Art and saw thew Georgia O'Keefe exhibition which was a treat, I love her and didn't even know it was on (I did check their website, but it wasn't very clear.) They also have Andy Warhol's coca-cola bottles.

Dunkin Donuts

(Sorry Daph, I should have written all of this in English, but I think you get the gist). I liked Taco Bell and there I tried Mountain Dew for the first time EVER and I quite liked that as well. Then we went to Stop & Shop and got Oreos (plain and peanut butter) Jell-O (watermelon, wild strawberry and blackberry), cinnamon sugar sprinkles, peppermint sugar spinrkles, American mustard, skittles and a lot more candy, popcorn spices, macaroni & cheese and more. After this we went back to Eva's place had a glass of wine and some guacamole and fell asleep.
